The other day, I reunited with a friend from my school days for the first time in over 10 years.
My friend, who lives on the Atsumi Peninsula, brought me some local specialties as souvenirs.

One of them was this “Hajimemashite Aosanoridesu”(meaning: Nice to meet you, I’m Aosa Nori) (Japanese Trademark Registration No. 5925543).

This eye-catching, approachable name—along with the character “Aosa Kozō” (Japanese Trademark Registration No. 6042125) in the upper right corner—is a registered trademark of Miyagawa Industries Co., Ltd., a manufacturer specializing in aosa seaweed.

Personally, when I think of Atsumi Peninsula specialties, melons and cabbage come to mind first, but as you’d expect from a region surrounded by Mikawa Bay and the Pacific Ocean, it’s also rich in seafood!

I couldn’t get a good shot because the bag was bulging, but the back of the package also features various details, such as the product’s features and delicious ways to enjoy it.

Looking toward the bottom, I also found a list of the various awards and certifications the product has received.
Seeing these achievements really conveys the company’s sustained efforts to bring this local specialty to as many people as possible.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure this is absolutely delicious.
Coming across unique local delicacies like this makes me want to actually visit the Atsumi Peninsula and discover many other delicious foods there.

Anyway, this time we met up in Nagoya and enjoyed—not “Nagoya-meshi,” but—Korean cuisine and good conversation at “Dai Nagoya DINING” inside the Dai Nagoya Building.
We got so caught up in catching up on recent events and reminiscing about the past that time flew by in the blink of an eye.
Reuniting with friends from my school days is a strange thing—the moment we met, we instantly felt the same closeness we did back then.
It was a day that left me feeling motivated to stay healthy and look forward to our next reunion! ♪ (Cacao)
